SLOWLY: My pen-friend experience

SLOWLY

Earlier this year a friend recommended this app to me, SLOWLY, making instant message slow.

Making instant message slow.

Kevin Wong founded Slowly in 2017, a pen pal app, hoping to recreate the same sense of suspense and mystery, while also increasing people’s mindfulness of time and distance.

Unlike the usual social media and instant messaging app, Slowly is making instant message slow with the concept that the delivery time of your electrotonic letter will increase or decrease depending on how far away you live from your pen pal.

My pen-friend experience

This struggling Tito adapting to socmeds literally love Slowly. I love the concept of waiting for the letters to arrive. Waiting is one of my best trait (are you trying to make fun of yourself here?). I met a lot of people from various walks of life. Sharing your thoughts to strangers is really fun, as they take it with no judgement.

I had a chance to send letters from people inside and outside (let us not forget the territorial disputes "sa atin pa rin ang mga lupa't dagat na yan" not so segue) the borders of the Philippines. It was really one for the books, reading their stories made me realized stuff and reflect about my life. From sharing stories about COVID takeaways and lessons, your choice music, movies and even your daily life. We, as a person, really loves to share.

I am really lucky I met new friends on slowly and I wish I will meet these internet friends face-to-face soon.

  1. After reading your experience about Slowly, there was like an unseen force asking me to do the same thing. I would really love to try this app! <3
